Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Fesitval

Comedy, tragedy and music combine to create summer magic along the South Saskatchewan River!

The Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival's twelfth season opens July 3rd 1996, with the delightfully witty Twelfth Night. Artistic Director Henry Woolf says "If Shakespeare had only written Twelfth Night and nothing else, he would still be hailed as a genius of his craft." With a traditional setting and Elizabethan costume, jollity triumphs and so does love.

King Lear, opening July 5th 1996, is a complete contrast to our comedy. This majestic tragedy portrays the all too familiar struggle for power and is fittingly set in the harsh world of big business. Lear transcends the ages, becoming a modern example of aone who loses everything, yet gains so much!

Offenbach's high kicking musical La Vie Parisienne rounds out the repertory line up. Presented by the Riverbank Music Company it opens on July 7th 1996.

A summer of MAGIC! A summer of EXCITEMENT! A summer of SHAKESPEARE! Last year, 13,000 people packed the red and white tent on the reiverbank. Find out why so many people chose to celebrate summer with The Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival!
