Adoption Work

Groups sometimes work on specific cases.
Since 1978, Group 33 has been assigned 12 cases of  'adopted' prisoners of of conscience. 

Presently, Group33 is investigating the cases of six people being held Incommunicado by Libyan authorities.  Amnesty International is concerned that they may have been detained for the nonviolent expression of their political beliefs. As such, they may be prisoners of conscience.

Death Penalty Work

Total abolition of the death penalty is a major part of Amnesty International's mandate. In the last few months, AI has been target the use of the death penalty in the United States, specifically the use of deaty penalty against juvenile offenders and mentally disabled offenders, Group 33 has been working on these and other cases.
