Urgent Action Network
The Urgent Action Network is a world-wide network of people who send urgent appeals on behalf of prisoners who need emergency help, including victims or torture, "disappearance" and those in danger of imminent execution or deportation.
Regional Action Network
Group 33 works with the East Africa Regional Action Network, This is comprised of eight groups in Canada and other groups around the world who respond to reports of human rights abuses from the East Africa region.
For example AI hears of a human rights concern in Kenya, a report is sent to the co-ordinator in Canada who sends letter-writing instructions to members of the Network. This creates a blitz of letters to Kenya officials who may as a result, release or better protect prisoners.
Other Networks
Women, youth, artists, professionals, trade unionists and members of religious groupings can work on behalf of prisoners with whom they have an affinity. For example, as a part of the Women's Action Network, women may write letters on behalf of women prisoners.
