What is it?
Amnesty International is an impartial world wide human rights movement which is independent of any government, political faction, ideology, economic interest or religious creed.
Amnesty International works for the release of prisoners of
conscience. Prisoners of conscience are men, women and children
- who are detained anywhere for their beliefs, colour, ethnic
origin,
sex, religion or language and
- who have not used or advocated violence.
Amnesty International advocates fair and prompt trials for all political prisoners. It opposes torture, "disappearances", extrajudicial executions and the death penalty in all cases, without reservation.
